Though a typical companion for fish and chips, we love serving homemade tartar sauce with most things seafood. Grilled fish tends to be flavourful all on its own but this tartar, served on the side, will send most white fish and scallops straight over the top. The little bit of pickle juice we recommend adding might sound weird but it really adds something—don’t skip it!
Homemade Tartar Sauce
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons minced dill pickle
1 teaspoon pickle juice from the jar
1 tablespoon minced capers
1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Stir all ingredients together. Store in the fridge until ready to use.
