Bird Nests are a fun way to celebrate Easter and get the kids in the kitchen. No baking required means this holiday recipe is as easy as 1-2-3, and the combination of two popular flavours, chocolate and peanut butter, will be a hit with everyone! Bonus: this recipe uses everyone’s favourite Easter candy, Cadbury eggs.
Here’s how to make them…
1 tbsp (15 mL) unsalted butter, for greasing the muffin pan
6 oz (170 g) Ghirardelli semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
6 oz (170 g) Hershey’s Chip-its butterscotch chips
1 cup (250 mL) Nuts to You creamy peanut butter
6 oz (170 g) Golden Dragon steam fried noodles
36 mini Cadbury eggs
Generously grease a muffin tin with butter (don’t skip this step or you’ll regret it later).
In a microwave-friendly bowl, heat the butterscotch and chocolate chips for 20 – 30 second intervals until just melted. The chips will hold their shape so make sure to give the mixture a quick stir to help along the melting process.
Once melted, mix in the peanut butter and stir until completely incorporated. Gently mix in the noodles with a spatula until all the noodles are covered in the chocolate mixture.
Pack a spoonful of the noodles into each muffin form, making a little well with the back of a spoon. Chill in the fridge until set, at least 1 hour.
Carefully remove the nests from the tin and top with a few Cadbury eggs.
For a SWEET AND SALTY VARIATION, substitute salted pretzel sticks for the steam fried noodles.
